Abstract: Pharmaceutical supply chains operate under stringent regulatory mandates and global vulnerabilities that afect patient safety and product eficacy. Intelligent Control Towers (ICTs) function as digital coordination hubs to enhance resilience and compliance. Unlike traditional systems lacking real-time visibility and proactive risk mitigation, ICTs integrate multi-source data into a unified operational view. Core capabilities include sensing, analytics, automated decision-making, and rapid intervention to manage quality and cold-chain deviations. Technologies such as IoT sensors and blockchain ensure granular traceability and tamper-proof compliance records, while AI enables scenario modelling and regulatory-aligned response strategies. Key challenges include data silos, interoperability constraints, cybersecurity exposure, and high implementation costs. Addressing these requires structural digital integration and governance reforms. ICTs ultimately shift supply chains from reactive monitoring to dynamic, patient-centric governance and strategic competitiveness.
