  9. Just check and confirmed that last few weeks, I was busy completing peer reviews for various outlets, including few IEEE conference papers. Two observations I made from students papers is that they are not taking care of punctuations ("growth.The") and capitalizations ("india"). Wish that authors proof read more carefully going forward. There was instance of citation abuse where about 15 citations are repeated re-cited across the manuscript. Glad my backlog now came to manageble level.   11. MILESTONE: #PeerReviews are a key pillar of research writing and research publication process.. Unfortunately, no every researcher takes reviewing serious. The other day, saw an editor unhappy than only 1 in 14 requests for peer review were accepted by potential reviewers. Of course, every one will have their own reasons. I only wish that all authors also volunteer their time to peer review to various outlets .. this way they learn to be critical and their own research work (and mindset) will improve! Anyways, I am celebrating my 600th peer review milestone. I enjoy and cherish all my reviews. In fact, I document and log all the reviews too! Sort of digital collectables.. and when some of my reviews help the authors get a publication, and if the Editor lets me know that, I feel happy. 😊 LinkedIn May 14, 2026.

  13. PEER REVIEW! Just finished my 595th peer review, this time for a social sciences and humanities journal on a manuscript related to GenAI in a specific countries banking industry. The authors did a good job explaining the qualitative data collection / interview mention .. but it seems they forgot they are attempting for a Q1 journal. The details they provided are apt for a Q4 journal but not for a Q1 journal. The key difference here is the level of details that are explicitly to be mentioned are higher. For example, was the survey instrument added in the annexure? is sampling frame described? is response rate mentioned? how are qualitative interviewees recruited? interview protocol used? data collection timeline? pilot testing procedure?   14. PEER REVIEW! It is not always necessary that our manuscripts always carry extraordinary statistical tools to test the hypothesis statements. Sometimes, even simple ones, if explained why and what they do for the study are explained in the manuscript will do. I was reviewing a submission today, my 589th so far, that involved #RegressionAnalysis. The write up and explanation was good.. But because this will be for a reputed journal, while the test is a simple (and apt one), more statistical data / explanation is expected. For example, it is important that the authors must include regression coefficients (β), standard errors, and model fit statistics (R², adjusted R², F-statistic) for each model. Without these, it is impossible to assess the direction or magnitude of effects. Also we cannot decide whether the models have #ExplanatoryPower. This is a critical revision required! Simply put, "a regression table that reports only p-values is incomplete"! LinkedIn April 7, 2026

  48. PEER REVIEW! Rejected a manuscript for having 27% Similarity and 100% AI Writing. Ideally, I would have given a chance for the author to fix and make a re-submission despite that are several other issues with the manuscript. BTW, i am very generous and I only rejected 4% of submissions sent to me so far! But this author has 58 publications in the first 6 months of the year! A closer random look at some publications showed several unethical practices and yet they got published by reputed publishers. How come the Peer Reviewers, Editors and the Published skipped the basic checks! Felt: A rejection now is better than retraction and facing the wrath of being delisted by Scopus later. Hope the Editor and the publication take a closer look into this! June 13, 2025.

  67. REVIEW! Was reviewing a book chapter for a reputed publisher yesterday. The writeup was human written and made sense initially. However, upon close observation, it was found that out of 62 references added to the manuscript, as many as 31 of them are pointing to a small set of authors. Felt the manuscript is intentionally written to improve the citations of previously published papers. Tagged it as a research misconduct and alerted the Editor. I did my duty as a peer reviewer.
