Abstract: Food remains safe for consumption when its quality is preserved. Packaging technologies play a vital role in this. Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) safely alters the atmosphere inside food packaging, allowing food to remain fresh for extended periods. It gives customers healthy options while maintaining its original firmness, color, freshness, and aesthetic appeal. MAP helps stakeholders in the food industry minimize food waste and support the economy in achieving global food security and sustainability goals. Cost-benefit advantages will result from producers and agripreneurs being able to optimize profit margins and reduce postharvest losses. Despite the encouraging new developments in MAP, there are still some gaps that need to be addressed to bring MAP into wider use in diverse food systems and to align with the principles of the circular economy. Future research and technological advancements are required to optimize MAP applications and address the challenges associated with their implementation. The study has implications for both health and business professionals.
