Abstract: Smart Cities must integrate geospatial and computing technologies to enhance urban service delivery. These technologies help city administrators make superior decisions and incorporate sustainability practices. This chapter identifies and analyzes various data complexities and technology challenges encountered. Attention is drawn to Geospatial AI, an emerging technology that combines Geospatial technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The challenges are categorized into data quality and management, scalability and performance, data privacy and security, interoperability, workforce gaps, legal and ethical issues, and emerging concerns such as federated learning. The lack of skilled professionals and the outdated state of educational programs are highlighted. This chapter highlights the barriers and offers actionable insights for researchers, developers, policymakers, and urban administrators seeking to build robust, future-ready systems.
